Results from the 2022 Verdict Ridge Shootout
Championship Flight: Chris Drysdale, Outerlinks
Chris Drysdale fires a 73 (+1) to secure his first individual stroke play victory on the Bag Tour. Chris edged out Shane Thompson by only 1 shot with Big Country and Red Rocket Zach McKelvey not far behind. We look to see big things out of the Drysdale camp moving forward.
Pro Am Flight: Mike Tobias, Charlotte Golfers
A score of 78 was what it took to find yourself in a 3 man playoff here in the Pro Am Division. Mike Tobias squared off with Alex Hunter & Casey Brighton in a multi-hole, sudden death playoff to lift the crown. This was an impressive victory for Tobias. Early oddsmakers had Tobias as an underdog, in an absolutely STACKED flight of 15 players including (7) Bag Tour Champions. This is one he wont forget!
Amateur Flight: Austin Cureton, The No. 33
Austin Cureton finished with a (+9) 81 to win his first individual stroke play event on the Bag Tour. He battled with Chris Grindstaff has they both jumped ahead in their flight early on in the day. They went back and forth with Austin finally taking the lead back on the 17th hole. With the pressure on, Austin was able to remain calm and take on the challenge of the daunting 18th hole at Verdict Ridge like a Pro. He finished with a Par to defeat Chris by 2 strokes.
Mid Am Flight: Fred Heintz, 5 Pointz Golf
Fred racked up big and doubled up with the Long Drive Contest & Champion of his Flight. Great playing out there from Fred as he secured his first individual stroke play victory on the Bag Tour with a score of 89. Fred battled hard with Cyril Daniel and it ultimately came down to the last hole, where Cyril was up by 1. A costly double bogey from Cyril and a clutch par save from Fred, flipped the script and earned Fred his spot in history.
